“Zwemmer in het riet” Deze absurde situatie is komisch.
In het voorjaar staat er op deze plaats geen riet,
maar dan wil je niet graag zwemmen in het koude water.
MUZIEK
De melodie De Swemsters is wel passend.
Met de muziekgroep V.A.A.G. speelde ik het al in de jaren ’70.
V.A.A.G. was de afkorting voor Vaders Actieve Akoestische Genoegen. De melodie is ook bekend onder de titel: “Het maantje scheen zo helder”. In de periode 1650 – 1800 is het gebruikt voor 33 liedteksten, met beginregels als:
- Een kluchtig trouwgeval
- Wilt bovenal beminnen, met hart en al uw zinnen.
- Wanhoopt niet, o zondaren.
De gebruikte versie komt uit: Hollandse Boerenliedjes etc. (1712)

‘Swimmer in the reeds’. This absurd situation is quite comical.
There are no reeds in this location in the springtime, but do you really want to go swimming anyway when the water’s cold and the weather’s cold and miserable. Or maybe you do?
MUSIC
The tune ‘The Swimmers’ fits nicely with the photo.
In the 1970s I used to play with the music group V. A. A. G., short for Vaders Actieve Akoestische Genoegen. [Genoegen = Pleasure] The tune is also known under the title ‘The Moon Shone so Brightly’. During the period between 1650 and 1800 it was used to accompany as many as 33 songs, with the first lines as follows:
- A farcical wedding
- Will you above all love, with all your heart and senses
- Don’t despair, o sinners
The version I have taken can be found in the Hollandse Boerenliedjes etc. (1712).
